Machukuna
The machukuna is a desiccated dead being of the Peruvian highlands, a skeleton or shell that roams the mountains seeking to become flesh again. Unlike the condenado it is often harmless and may labour quietly at night. Its evil variant, the suq'a, preys on the living. Together they show an Andean range of walking dead running from pitiable to predatory.1

Described as a wretched thing of dried bones, or the husk of a human body1

Not always hostile, and it sometimes accepts human food1
Lives in caves and clefts in the mountainside1
The suq'a is its malignant counterpart: it lives in swamps, refuses human food and hunts people at night1
